    Description of the thesis topic

    Duties The Ph-D candidate is expected to write a thesis within the 36 months on a topic related to strategic uncertainty, using the experimental method.
    The position comes with no teaching load, although some possibilities to teach students may be available.

    The Ph-D student will be involved in different planned actions in the research project, and in particular:
    - Review of the literature on strategic uncertainty and its measurement;
    - Design and conduct of lab experiments to identify strategic uncertainty aversion;
    - Dissemination of scientific findings, in particular an international workshop that will take place in 2020.

    Work Context

    The selected applicant is expected to begin his/her appointment around August/September 2019. The appointment is for 36 months. Gross salary is around 1800 euros per month.
    The PhD candidate is expected to spend time in the Gate-Lab, where he/she will have an office and all the resources necessary to the research work (including regular workshops, research seminars with internationally renowned speakers, and a state-of-the-art experimental laboratory).
    There will be a research allowance to cover all the expenses related to presentations at international conferences.

    Constraints and risks

    The PhD candidate is expected to have:
    - A graduate (Masters) degree in economics, with a particular focus on game theory and/or experimental economics,
    - strong analytical skills and commitment to research excellence,
    - strong skills in analyzing data; experience with econometric software such as STATA, Matlab, or R is an asset; - very good English language skills, knowledge of French is not a must but would be an advantage; - ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

    Research team The PhD candidate will be supervised by the project coordinator, Camille Cornand. He/she will also work directly with the research team involved in the project: Brice Corgnet and Adam Zylbersztejn at the Gate-Lab, and Frank Heinemann at the TU Berlin.
    He/she will also benefit from the interactions with our existing international network consisting of a large community of researchers specialized in experimental economics at the Gate-Lab.
