Two LGL-TPE members honored

Francis Albarède Professor emeritus at ENS de Lyon, was appointed Officer of the French National Order of Merit. Isabelle Daniel , Professor at Lyon 1 University and alumna of ENS Lyon, received the Merit Award 2024 from the French Society of Mineralogy and Crystallography.

In June 2024, two members of the Laboratory of Geology of Lyon: Earth, Planets, Environment (LGL-TPE, CNRS/Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1/ENS de Lyon/Université Jean Monnet) received the honor.

Francis Albarède, geochemist and professor emeritus at ENS de Lyon, was appointed Officer of the French National Order of Merit . A member of the French Academy of Sciences since 2022, Francis Albarède is a prominent figure at ENS Lyon. He is actively involved both in teaching in the School’s Earth Sciences department, which he joined in 1991, and in research in his laboratory, as demonstrated by his ERC Advanced Silver project. His career has been recognized with numerous awards and honors.

Isabelle Daniel is a mineralogist, professor at Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and alumna of ENS Lyon (science competitive examination 1988). The French Society of Mineralogy and Crystallography has just awarded her the Merit Award 2024 , honoring her entire career. In addition to her major scientific achievements, she has successfully mentored a number of students, many of whom have gone on to become brilliant scientists. Remarkable for her ability to inspire new areas of research, Isabelle Daniel has been extremely influential both internationally and in her home institution.
