The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences. The FHSE offers six Bachelor and 20 Master degrees and a doctoral school providing students with the necessary knowledge and high-qualified skills to succeed in their future career.


Description

The holder of the position will be a member of the Department of Education and Social Work within the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences.

She/he is expected to participate in the following activities related to the research in the Department:

  • Further Development and management of the new Bachelor en Formation Pédagogique
  • Involvement in the supervision of students during their internships in Luxembourgish schooStudent tutoring (including professional development portfolio)
  • Meetings and exchanges with Luxembourgish school actors
  • Perform high level research in educational sciences
  • Contribution to the department’s activities, including seminars, teaching, outreach and various other research related events
  • Contribution to scientific publications and reports

Teaching areas

The holder will be in charge to develop and lead the new Bachelor en Formation Pédagogique (BFP) which is a special one-year Bachelor programme (Quereinsteiger) for primary school teachers.

Teaching tasks will be related to the requirements of the Bachelor en Formation Pédagogique and the Bachelor en Sciences de l’Education (BScE).

Requirements

  • PhD degree in Educational Sciences or a closely related field

  • A minimum of five years of postdoctoral experience acquired in a university or comparable research centre

  • Experience with lateral entrance programmes for primary school teachers

  • Previous experience or interest in adaptative teaching (inclusion, differentiation, management of student’s heterogeneity in classroom)

  • A good knowledge of / interest in the Luxembourgish school system or similar multilingual school systems

  • Willingness to engage in teamwork in teaching and research groups

  • Ability to work autonomously

Language requirements

The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual context. The person hired on this position must be proficient in French and German and have a good working knowledge of English.
