First patents to cover the fundamental processes for accessing the human gut microbiome as biotherapeutics. MaaT Pharma's microbiome sample collection and administration devices receive CE mark for use in collecting and administrating gut-derived samples as biotherapeutics to patients.

Valérie Castellani, Thierry Chartier, and Daniel Le Berre are the recipients of the 2018 CNRS Innovation Medals. All three will be handed their medals during a ceremony held on October 10 in Paris. Since 2011, CNRS Innovation Medals have recognized scientists whose outstanding research has led to innovations having notable technological, economic, therapeutic, or social impacts.

Launch of a joint international laboratory between the CNRS and Hitachi High Technologies Corporation
French researchers and Japanese engineers have joined forces to develop a new electron microscope that can scan the properties of matter on very small scales of time and space. The Centre d'élaboration de matériaux et d'études structurales (CEMES) of the CNRS and the Hitachi High Technologies Corporation (HHT) will formalize the creation of a joint laboratory on July 2, 2018, the first between the CNRS and a foreign company.
