Following the elections opened in 2022, the French Académie des Sciences has elected 18 new members.
On December 19, 2022, the Academy unveiled the list of its new members. Among them, Francis Albarède , Professor Emeritus at the École normale supérieure de Lyon, Laboratory of Geology of Lyon: Earth, Planets, Environment.
Francis Albarède joined ENS de Lyon in 1991 and became Professor Emeritus in 2015. He has received several awards and distinctions, including the CNRS Silver medal in 1988 and the Legion of Honor in 2008. Appointed member of the IUF in 1994, he has been awarded the Goldschmidt Award of the Geochemical Society in 2008 and the Nemmers Prize in Earth Science in 2018.
In 2022, elected from the Universe Sciences Section, he joins the 286 members of the Academy of Sciences.
Francis Albarède Biography
ENS de Lyon is also proud to count, among the new academicians, Philippe Walter , Saint-Cloud alumnus, class of 1986. A physical chemist specializing in the study of cultural heritage materials, Philippe Walter is a CNRS research director and director of the Laboratoire d’archéologie moléculaire et structurale (UMR 8220 - CNRS/Sorbonne University).
