Faculty member at Bergische University in Wüppertal, Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences
Visiting Professor 2023-2024 - from 15 of November to 15 of December 2023
Inviting Professor: Karol Kozlowski
Biography
Professor Frank Göhmann currently teaches at Bergish University in Wuppertal, Germany. He obtained his degree in physics at the University of Hanover and then his doctorate at the University of Bayreuth, at the end of which he presented his thesis, entitled ’Magnetisation of a foreign atom in metal’ (’Magnetisierung eines Fremdatoms im Metall’). He is interested in a number of areas, including integrable lattice models and quantum field theories, strongly correlated electron systems in condensed matter physics, and representation theory of quantum groups.
Collaboration with Physics Laboratory
Professor Göhmann’s visit to the Physics Laboratory of ENS de Lyon is part of a collaboration aimed at obtaining an exact and complete characterisation of the correlation functions at finite temperature T of the anisotropic XXZ Heisenberg chain of spin-1/2 and in one spatial dimension, in particular with regard to the dynamical correlation functions, the understanding of which for interacting models is still very incomplete. As a specialist in finite-temperature integrable models, his visit is a natural extension of the Physics Laboratory’s work. The visit will also help to strengthen the links between the Lyon and Wüppertal teams, as their areas of expertise are complementary. It will also lay a solid foundation for more systematic exchanges between the two establishments. During his visit, F. Göhmann will present a theoretical physics seminar on his recent work. He will also take an active part in various discussions on topics covering the scientific interests of the integrable systems team.
