A new student residence is due to open at the start of the 2027 academic year, on Monod Campus.
In 2025, the CROUS and ENS de Lyon are planning to demolish and rebuild the Debourg student residence to provide more accommodation and improve the quality of life for its residents.
The current residence will therefore be closed from July 2025, the start date of the works.

The building is also intended to blend in better with the surrounding area, highlighting the site’s landscaping qualities. It will eventually be equipped with a gymnasium approved for regional competitions, as well as a wide range of facilities and services (common room, music and entertainment rooms, laundry, snack bar, bicycle rooms, concierge service, etc.).
CROUS de Lyon is the contracting authority, in partnership with ENS de Lyon. The selected consortium is Bouygues, working with Vera & Associés Architectes.
The cost of the project (excluding the gymnasium) is ¤31 million (partnership between CROUS de Lyon, Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, État, Rectorat, ENS de Lyon).
