On 15 June 2017, Fabrice Marty became the new Deputy Director General for Research Support Services at INRA. Previously Director of Human Resources, Fabrice Marty now takes on the role of developing and implementing the Institute’s research support policies and the contributions they make to INRA’s success. He takes the reins from Claude Ronceray, who held the post for the past four years.
Nominated by Philippe Mauguin, President and Director General of INRA, Fabrice Marty is the new Director General for Research Support Services at INRA. He will be in charge of all the support, administrative and technical services of the Institute, which are designed to boost research by providing sustainable support for INRA in achieving its goals. His responsibilities include carrying out and monitoring all aspects related to the Institute’s human and financial resources, property policies, information technology systems and related State contracts, as well as formal relations with the ministries in charge of research, agriculture, budgets and public finances. He will define and carry out policies to modernise the management of INRA in all its aspects.
Born in 1969, Fabrice Marty is a civil engineer in France’s Grand Corps of Bridges, Waters and Forests (promoted to ingénieur général on 1 July 2017), with a doctoral degree in Economics (Paris X Nanterre). He joined INRA in 2001 as the Secretary General of the Management Board and advisor to the Director General, a post he held until 2004. He went on to serve as general director of the Variety and Seed Study and Control Group (GIP GEVES) until 2008, and then worked in the general management for food as head of the department for health risk prevention in primary production. In 2010 and 2011, he was deputy head in the creation of the Paris Saclay campus in the Foundation for Scientific Cooperation (FCS). Fabrice then re-joined the general management of INRA as deputy scientific director general before becoming INRA’s director of Human Resources in March 2012. In that capacity, his responsibilities included legal affairs, occupational health and safety, organisation and management. Fabrice Marty has been a member of INRA’s Management Board since 2013.
